Girl Crush: Kate Bush

I have so much admiration for this woman. I have possibly the biggest girl-crush ever on her. She is such an incredible songwriter, vocalist and dancer- I just love her. She wrote many of the songs on her first big album The Kick Inside when she was in her teens and released her debut single at the age of 19. She was also the first woman to top the UK charts with a self-written song. If you don't know who Kate Bush is all you really need to do to begin your love affair with her is watch some of her amazing music videos. Please, I entreat you.

Girl Crush: Kristen Wiig

How can you not have a girl crush on Kristen Wiig? She's hilarious and hot. I'm so glad she's out there representing woman kind. I wish she was my aunt, friend, neighbor, coworker - anything!

If you haven't seen Bridesmaids, you should. I also really liked her in Paul. She's pretty great in everything but I am excited to see more things written by her (ala Bridesmaids). I heard she got the green light for a new movie that she wrote about a play-write who fakes her own death to get the attention of an ex-boyfriend. It sounds pretty awesome. Yay for Kristen Wiig!

Girl Crush: Christina Hendricks

Sometimes it's just one of those days and the only thing that can make you feel better is looking at pictures of a seriously hot woman. Does that make me a lesbian? I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure I'd play for the other team if I could get with bombshell Christina Hendricks! Lezzy thoughts aside, I'm mostly excited about having a full figured woman in the spotlight again. It really is a nice change of pace.

I'm sure she must get tired of people talking about her body so I wanted to add that Christina is definitely a kindred spirit. I read that she's a natural blonde but started dying her hair at the age of 10 after reading Anne of Green Gables!

Girl Crush: Christina Ricci

Christina Ricci is like the girl crush of my childhood. I haven't seen her too much lately but I just heard she is going to be on a new TV show. It's going to be "Mad Men at 30, 000 feet", apparently. Only it stars Ricci as a 1960's stewardess. I have my doubts about the show but it's still nice to see Ricci getting some action. She was such an awesome child actress. I loved her as Wednesday Addams, as the tom- girl in Now and Then, as the angsty teen in Casper. I even loved her bleach blonde in Sleepy Hollow. She's pretty rad.

Girl Crush: Barbara Stanwyck

Barbara Stanwyck is one of my all time favorite actresses. My uncle used to refer to her as "S&M Stanwyck" because of her character on 'The Big Valley'... but I think it's also fitting for the way that she commands the screen. She was a true leading lady! She has such amazing charisma and she's quite the comedian in my opinion. You can always see the 'trickster' in her and sometimes when I'm watching her she reminds me of a live-action Bugs Bunny.

What a lady! She is definitely one of my idols.

Lolita Fanning

Is anyone else disturbed by this Marie Claire photo shoot of Elle Fanning? I know she is adorable and she has that Twiggy thing going on here but that's because she's 13! I just find it really inappropriate. It makes me think of this passage from Lolita and shudder:

I didn't know Humbert Humbert ran Marie Claire. I have seen plenty of other tasteful photo shoots of Elle where she looked perfectly cute as a 13 year old. I just wonder about what our society is coming to sometimes... We are all terribly afraid of child molesters, so much so that the media makes you think there's one on every block but then it's okay to sex up a 13 year old and sell the images just because she's famous? Just because 'that's fashion'? Who knows if she's even started her period yet!

Girl Crush: Katharine Hepburn

TGI Thursday!! Though I wish it were Friday.... I have some eye candy for you all this morning. I probably could have posted 100 pictures of Katharine Hepburn for this post and never gotten bored. I just love looking at her face. It's not just that she's beuatiful it's that she's such an incredible actress and such a delight to watch on screen. Her face holds so much drama and wit. The camera loves it and so do I. Enjoy.

My favorite Katharine Hepburn movie so far is Philidelphia Story. It's one of my favorite movies in fact! What's your favorite KH flick? I also want to say that Katharine has amazing hair. I wish it were in style again. Oh, to be glamourous...

Girl Crush: Diane Kruger

It's a double post day! I saw these pictures of Diane Kruger via Nylon and they have just cemented my girl crush on her into place! I love this outfit! Pink + turquoise? This girl is after my own heart! Seriously, how gorgeous is this dress? Diane is just a total babe already and then she has to go and have a stunning sense of fashion, too? LOVE.
