It's Friday, I'm In Love!

I have been a very naughty blogger lately! Sorry, Z-land, I was at D-land! Yes, I went to Disneyland for 24hrs of madness and magic! It was ver, ver fun! My dad's birthday is February 29th so we couldn't resist. It was great running into other leaplings while we were there and he got many 'happy birthdays' and confused looks from wearing his Birthday button which said, "I'm 13 today". We made it until 4AM and ended our night we a lovely train ride around the park. I had completely forgotten about the Dinosaur dioramas! They are amazing! Remember my Disney Hunks post? While I was there I started thinking about all the Disney villains and I was trying to decide my favorite. I think it might be Ursula. Anyhoo, happy Friday!

It's Friday I'm in Love!

My week sucked but at least it's Friday and at least I am still in love. Anyone have any exciting plans this weekend? I'm going to take the advice of this graph:

I think I need to change something and I am pretty sure that something is my job. It's so hard to escape a toxic environment when you get paid to be there. Plus, everyone has this attitude like you better hang on to what you have because there are people without jobs out there! Well, I happened to catch an episode of Freakonomics  on NPR a little while ago that talked about the value of being a quitter. Super interesting stuff. It made me realize that the only thing I have ever quit in my life was Girl Scouts and various boyfriends but I was unhappy for way too long before I finally quit them. Plus, there are lots of other things in  my life that I hated but didn't quit. I left them eventually but I always had an excuse, I was moving, I was going back to school etc. I didn't outright quit. Looking back I wish I had quit and I really wish I had quit some other things sooner than I did. I'm thinking it's time I learn how to be a quitter!

It's Friday, I'm In Love!

Oh, it's Friday again and I am still not well. I am feeling a bit like this sea monster looking in on the lives of others while I sit on the side lines waiting to be healthy. 

I've been trying to make it through the week and also do something creative or productive to keep my will power going. This week I drew a rough draft of  a logo/t-shirt design for a  bike shop that will be opening up soon called 'Surf Monkey'. I'm hoping it goes somewhere but if not it was fun to work on. I also went to a volunteer meeting for a non-profit called San Diego Victory Gardens. They teach people how to grow their own veggie gardens by actually going to their homes and building/designing their garden with them! Isn't that cool? I can't wait to get involved. This weekend I'm going to hang out with my chickens and try to get some exercise and sunshine. I'm also going to try acupuncture for the first time today. Cross your fingers that it works for me!

It's been a rough week for me because I am still struggling with this sinus infection. Last time I was sick for this long was when I got mono in college and that was much more fun because my best friend had it with me. I'm hoping this weekend will provide me with the kind of rest I need to kick this thing. Hope everyone has a good one!

It's Friday I'm In Love!

Seems like everyone was sick this week. I myself, am still struggling with a sinus infection from hell. Turns out I have a vitamin D deficiency! It's actually a relief to find out and finally have an explanation for this 6 weeks of illness. My doctor thought I had mono, despite my insistence that I have had it before. At any rate I'm so ready for the weekend! I wish everyone good health and good cheer!

It's Friday I'm In Love!

So glad it's Friday! I went nuts yesterday in Michael's craft store buying stuff to make my own "ugly" sweater for a party tonight. I was going to draw a kitten on the front with puffy paint, glue pom-poms all over it, cover it in glitter- the works! Then, I decided I didn't have time and I really didn't want to spend that much so I just got some led Christmas lights and a bag of gold pipe cleaners. I'm going to wear a sweater I already have and decorate it by attaching the lights. Then, I made myself a crown of stars from the pipe cleaners. It came out so cool I think I may have to put a tutorial up for you all next week. Anyone else going to holiday parties this weekend? Hope you have a blast! PS: doesn't this picture make you laugh?

Sorry, I have been absent everyone! I got hit with a major sinus infection. Turns out I have had it for 4 weeks and I didn't realize! No wonder I had no energy to write new posts! I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving. I sure did. So glad it's Friday!

It's Friday I'm... a Lazy Blogger!

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. I think I have blogger's block. Have you seen this blog about school lunches? It's called "Fed Up with Lunch" and it chronicles the journey of a elementary school teacher who goes undercover to expose the state of America's school lunches. She ate a school lunch every day of 2010 and took pictures of them all. It's horrifying and fascinating. You cans start at the beginning or just skip around. She's since revealed her secret identity and now has book deal. It's exciting how writing a blog like that can actually make a difference. Do you remember your school lunches? I used to have to eat them and I remember that they were disgusting. Most days I ate nothing at all. They were probably much better than these lunches though. I think we had a salad bar. 

It's supposed to rain this weekend- which is kind of exciting because we have had a bit of an Indian summer. Although , I'm supposed to go wedding tomorrow night and I think it's supposed to be outside... I hope it doesn't ruin their plans or my outfit plans! Have a great weekend everyone!

TGIF. I'm going to have a giant Mexican breakfast tomorrow morning, drink some mimosas and then play some frisbee golf. I'm also going to enjoy some primo seats at the Dogers/Padres game and try to finish building my chicken coop in between. Here's hoping for a never ending weekend!

It's Friday again and I can't wait to start my weekend. My plans are to rage on the chicken coop that I have been building. I want to get it as close to done as possible. I am dying to have my own chickens. You just can't buy  eggs that taste that good anymore. Isn't this picture cute btw? Have a great weekend everyone!

It's Friday I'm In Love!

I had an awesome time yesterday thanks to the massive power outage. I was lucky to not be in an elevator when it happened. I got to leave work early. I evaded most of the traffic by taking back routes home. I had all the ingredients to make black bean and feta tacos! Then I went for a lovely jog and read by candle light. It was so nice to see everyone outside talking to their neighbors, riding their bikes, exercising... kids were playing in the park. I love power outages. I only wish the moon hadn't been so bright so that I could have done some star gazing. 

At any rate I am glad it's Friday. Tonight I am going to play bartender and pour beer as volunteer for  The San Diego Festival of Beer which raises money for cancer research. If you are in San Diego be sure to check it out! I'm also going to the Tijuana fair tomorrow night. Can't wait go on all the rickety rides, drink some Tecate with chili sauce and check out the Mexican version of gross fair food. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

it's Friday I'm In Love!

So glad it's labor day weekend! I'm going to a wedding up north... sadly sans a new dress . Which is the major reason I like going to weddings but maybe I'll luck out at my favorite Santa Cruz thrift stores at the last minute. Cross your fingers for me. I love labor day weekend because it is the last bit of summer. It is like the last bite of a really good pie. Anyone else have plans?
