Kids- The Ultimate Accessory?

Good morning Zomblets! This week is speeding along nicely and I am soo ready for another weekend.

Last weekend my boyfriend and I babysat a couple of one-year-olds and it got me thinking about what being a mom would really be like. Mainly, I was thinking, "How do people do this all day long?!"  The most exhausting thing was having to pay that much attention to another being. Still, as the little guy in my lap grabbed sticky handfuls of food intended for his mouth but destined for my lap, I couldn't help but enjoy myself. It was kind of fun to carry him around and pretend like he was mine for awhile. Small children are sometimes the ultimate accessory and it's funny how other women compliment you on them in the same way they would a pretty dress. I love it when moms really embrace that element of motherhood... my favorite is when they coordinate their kids outfit with their own! It can be kind of tacky but most of the time I think it's really cute. I came up with some ideas for all the interested moms out there:

It doesn't have to be matching colors you can go for something a little more subtle like similar patterns or fabrics... maybe you are both wearing your hair in braids! <3

I wish...

I wish this outfit was in my size! Cutest cowgirl outfit ever! I almost want to buy this for my future, unborn child... but I have too much stuff as it is. Yay for TheVintageCookieJar.

Elaborate Jellies!!

Aren't these amazing? Oh, Vivienne Westwood, what a gal! If only these adorable shoes were not $100. They may be made sustainably but how sustainable is it for a parent to pay $100 for a pair of shoes that the kid is going to outgrow in 4 months? All the same, they are hard to resist.

Lucky for us they come in big girl sizes and our feet have stopped growing so the price is more justifiable, no? You can see more here.

Just Too Little, Too Little, Too Little, Too Little, Too LITTLE!

Maybe it's because I went to a baby shower over the weekend, but have you ever noticed how seriously cool some little girls dress? I know their parents are the ones buying and picking out the clothes for the most part but I certainly remember arguing with my mother about what I wanted to wear. Plus, there are some things that you just can't find in adult sizes... like anything with Scottie dogs, dinosaurs, or cats printed on it, for example. Maybe this is why I am obsessed with the Miu Miu Fall 2010 collection...

Check out this amazing Bug-print outfit I found on Etsy! I felt compelled to favorite this despite the fact that I have no children to dress... I think it might be because I secretly wish I could still wear an outfit like this. How great would that be?

This frog dress by Leifsdottir is pretty close. I have been dying for it to go on sale. I love that how when you first see it, you just see a beautiful pattern and then you realize that it is frogs! Glorious, good fun.

Another thing little girls really know how to do is rock the cowboy style! Check out this young thing! She really knows how to put it together. I am going to a wedding in July with "country casual" attire. Oh, how I wish I could find this outfit! Also, note her awesome hat (seen behind her).

 

Yet another stylin' little girl, oh wait-- that's me! Check out my wicked dress. Man, I wish I could wear this now. It's got amazing pink and white Scotties all over it! The cred really should go to my Uncle Mark for this one though, since he bought me the dress. Thanks, UM!

'Ey Bey-Bey!

Yesterday was Mother's Day. Hope everyone did something nice for their mom! My brother, "adopted sister" and I cleaned out our mom's kitchen. Which was bordering on hoarder status. In every drawer she had stashed some amount of used birthday candles and/or wine corks. I also found a basket of old spaghetti jar lids and a whole cupboard of empty salsa containers. Aside from all that half the cooking utensils were broken. Towards the end of the cleaning session we decided to have a contest to see who could guess how many corks had accumulated. The winner got to relax while the others finished the job. I won with my guess of 60 corks... there were 69!

Mom & I

 All this Mom talk reminds me of all the new babies. It seems like everyone just had one or has one on the way. It's got me thinking about baby names because, of course, I have to throw my pick into every lottery I can find. My boyfriend's brother had a little girl recently, and as his wifey neared the finish line my boyfriend and I ran across a baby name book at a flea market. We were like "Oh, let's get this for Patrick and Holly!" but then we ended up keeping it because we became obsessed with picking out the names that we liked. We are sickening, I know. So anyway, I feel kind of embarrassed about this but I discovered that I love picking out baby names! Am I alone here? It is so fun! My pick for Pat and Holly? Well, I wanted them to call her Ivy, because I thought Holly and Ivy sound cute together but they wanted something really Irish, so changed my vote to Moira. Sadly, my suggestions didn't really catch on. They decided to call her Shannon. Oh well, now I can just exhaust my baby naming energy in this post and hopefully some of you are preggers and can put my suggestions to good use.
