I am on the eve of my trip to Mexico today and I am so excited. Sadly, you will have to be without my posts for awhile. I return 7/7/11 so you probably won't hear from me until then but when I get back I will have lots of fun pictures to share. For now, you can pretend you are in Mexico with me by listening to this little YouTube mix I put together! Have a good two weeks and an awesome 4th of July!
I am constantly wishing that I controlled the world. I'm not saying I want to be President of the United States or anything practical like that... I'm just saying that when I walk down the street and I see a woman wearing an over-sized t-shirt with manatees printed all over it, I wish I could do something about it.

Minxy Monday
Hello my minxy little zombies!
It's Monday again but for me it is Thursday because on Wednesday I leave for my trip to Mexico! I am very excited to see new things, spend time with friends and eat amazing food. I have been stock piling hot weather clothes for this trip and rightly so because it is supposed to be 99 degrees but according to the weather report there's also going to be a week long thunderstorm! All my planning is out the window because I have no clue how to dress in super hot rainy weather but at this point I don't really have anything better than shorts and tanks. I just asked my mom what she thought the locals wear and she told me that they all wear really big hats that keep the rain off...
Ha ha, mom, you are too funny. Weather/wardrobe crisis aside though, I do have some summer essentials to share:
I'm really into cat eye sunglasses right now (as you may know) and I am loving this giant chevron striped bag. I always consider Greek sandals to be a summer essential and I am especially glad to see comfortable tailored shorts come into style. One thing that is not in style this summer is getting burned to a crisp and that is why I have included this lovely, floppy sunhat and DeVita sunscreen. If you have never tried this sunscreen before, get ready to love me. It protects you from the sun but feel just like you are putting on a soothing lotion- not sticky, greasy sunscreen! Plus, it is all natural and from an environmentally friendly company. It's amazing stuff, you can test it out if there's a Whole Foods nearby you. I promise it's worth the price.

The Time of the Gemini
Today is my boyfriend's birthday! So close to mine, I know, that can only mean one thing- that we are both Geminis! How does a Gemini/Gemini couple stay sane you wonder? I'm not sure but one thing is true, we never get bored of each other! We have been together a little over 3 years and though we do get overwhelmed by the huge array of ever-changing interests we both possess, we always manage to find each other again.
I think in this past year alone we have considered: moving to the Philippines to become soap opera stars, joining the peace corps together, traveling through Europe for 2 months (just because), moving to Maui, starting a backyard apiary... and those are just the plans we made together! Both of us are trying to figure out what career path we want to be on. Tim just decided he wants to look into being a nurse or a PA instead of a fire fighter and I am toying with the idea of costume design. Life is hard but I am so glad I have Tim!

Are there any other Gemini/Gemini couples out there? I think Natalie Portman and her new hubby are. I wonder how it works for other duos?

Slightly Non-traditional Wedding Dresses
Good morning Zomblets!
As much as I try not to blog about weddings, I just can't help it! I keep running across dresses and thinking, "Oo! That would make a great wedding dress!" Then I save a picture to this little folder I keep hidden in my computer entitled 'wedding inspiration' but since I am not currently engaged I may as well share them with you guys. How about it? Anyone engaged? Either way they are pretty to look at.

I looove this dress! It's not your typical wedding dress but don't you think it would make for a sweet elopement dress? Or if you were having a backyard wedding? It could even be the secondary dress that you change into after the reception. I just love it.

If you like the looks of this one you need to click the link and watch the runway video. It moves so elegantly. The details and cut are perfect.

I'm such a sucker for sparkles and a vintage silhouette! You could really class up the place in this little number.

I have such a thing for 50's garden party dresses! I think they make the loveliest wedding gowns. I like the idea of wearing a pattern like this. you are mostly white but with soft, splashes of color for some excitement.

Forties Inspired Wardrobe
I got another wardrobe for you zomblets this morning. I must admit s one started out as a Queen of Hearts inspired wardrobe but I got carried away with the 1940's element and lost track of the queen. It's still a good one though, I hope.
You can scroll through the whole thing using the arrows on the bar above. Wouldn't it be awesome to dress like this everyday. If only...

Blade Runner Poloroids
Ooh it is Monday again but I have something for you. Check out these awesome poloroids! Mary Sean Young took these during the filming of Blade Runner and she has them up on her website. I think they are really fun especially because she has the awesome Blade Runner hairdo in most of them.
Love that hair. Also love this last picture. Blade Runner is such an awesome movie if you haven't seen it. The costumes are perfect.

It's Friday I'm In Love!
Sorry to be MIA for a few days but I came down with a nasty flu. My boyfriend has it too and it is just awful! I'm back on my feet today but still not totally recovered.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
PS- No, I did not get sick from the water park! (I know because my boyfriend started to exhibit symptoms the morning of).

Featured Artist: Zerno Roli
I thought I share some lovely photos with you today. I love this set by Zerno Roli, titled Skin of Sea. They are so beautiful and strange. I love the colors and the dismembered body parts and the combination of hard lines and soft, melted tones.
Check out her other work here.

Mermaid Inspired Wardrobe
Hello Zomblets!
I have another wardrobe collection for you this morning. I'm really getting into these! This one is inspired by mermaids. I had a lot of fun collecting the items!
To create the mermaid look I mixed together colors like seafoam and coral, threw in some pearls and abalone, looked for fish scales and scalloped edges and included accessories made from rope. I hope you like it!
Use the arrows above to scrolls through the entire collection or click on the link to see it in page format. Looking like a mermaid turned out to be pretty expensive but you can still get the look if you shop around. Try wide legged pants, asymmetrical hem lines, shell accessories, beach bags, blue hued nail polishes and colors that remind you of the ocean (sand, seafoam, coral etc.). Walk the line between relaxed and chic and go for that beach hair!

Birthday Wish
This year for my birthday I want a trip to Vietnam. Sadly tickets are 1,300 dollars.... also, I would probably have to quit my job to go since I am already using all my vacation time to go to Mexico this month but that doesn't stop me from wanting it. Do you blame me?
Isn't it glorious? It's also dirt cheap once you get there and I hear the streets are filled with tailors and cobblers who can make all sorts of awesome custom stuff. My boyfriend's brother just got back and he told me I could just show them a picture of what I want and they can make it! He had them make him a cashmere suit for $90. I'm going to start collecting pictures of shoes I want but can't afford so I can bring a whole binder with me when I go!

Water Park B-day Outfit!
Good Morning, Zombies!
It's my birthday tomorrow and this Saturday my friends and I are going to take a little road trip to San Dimas so we can spend the day at Raging Waters!

I'm super excited to relive my childhood and have some fun in the sun. I'm even going to make some party favor bags with all my favorite childhood things. So far I've got bouncy balls, bubble necklaces, temporary tattoos, pop rocks and mini squirt guns. I hope I didn't just ruin the surprise for any of my guests. Check out this vintage swim suit I bought for the occasion.
I'm lovin' the skirted bottom! Thank you, Spun Sugar Vintage!
Here's a picture of me wearing it!

Midnight In Paris
I saw Midnight In Paris over the weekend and I loved it! I'm a fan of Woody Allen movies but not so much lately. I hate to say it because I'm sure this annoys the crap out of Woody but I like his older movies best. This one though, was definitely in line with his classics. I don't want to over-hype it or anything but thought it was interesting, funny, charming and magical. I love Woody's ability to blend fantasy with the everyday. He takes the surreal, impossible events and makes them believable. The movie was a lot like Alice in that way. Which is one of my favorite Woody Allen movies!
Another thing this film has in common with Alice is that the main character was essentially written as Woody Allen but played by another. Mia Farrow did such an excellent female Woody in Alice and Owen Wilson was so adorable in this role for Midnight In Paris. I was surprised at how well he was able to channel Woody Allen without imitation. It was like watching a sweetened version of Woody. Just look at him, aw.

I definitely recommend this one, especially if you are already a fan of Woody Allen!
